Sabrina and I got our 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with 112k miles on it back in August 2017 with the primary intention of living in it and traveling the world! We were heavily influenced by Dan Greg from ‘The Road Chose Me’, and a lot of our build uses his foundational and rational. That being said, there are many differences between Dan’s rig and ours as you’ll see below. We’ve attached our Vehicle Journal to this post as well, so you can see what / when we made modifications, adjustments, services, etc.

Wonderful time meeting you both in Cedar City, Utah. Where are you now? We stayed the night after we met you in St. George, Utah and it was over l02 the whole day so we kept the air on in our RV. Next day headed home and saw horrible smoke all through Vegas. Our skies here in Santa Clarita are clear but we are in the middle of a heat spell so it is l05 today.

Hi Carol – It was a pleasure meeting you and your husband in Cedar City – we ended up exploring a lot more of the Southwest; Zion, Bryce Canyon, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, etc. How about you guys, did the smoke finally clear for your trip back to CA? Do you have any future trip plans in your new van?!

Hey Nancy, thanks for your comment! The Jeep was a LOT of fun – it took us places few are able to go. But, it was a bit tight and difficult to fully live-work-travel in, so we went ahead and built out a ford transit van instead! We miss the adventure the Jeep offered, but the van is much more comfortable for full-time travel!
